These are the questions we are asked most. Search to find answers to everything else.
No, every new account gets a 7-day free trial with full access and no card required. You only choose a plan once the trial ends.
Choose the language you speak and the one you want to learn, add your name, email and a password, then confirm your email with a short code. Your 7-day free trial starts straight away. Sign up here.
Codes usually arrive within a minute or two. Check your spam or junk folder and make sure the email address is right, then use the resend link on the code page. You can ask for a new code every 30 seconds.
No, the games work whether you are starting from scratch or brushing up on a language you already know.
No, Tungo runs in your browser on desktop or mobile, with nothing to install.
English, Dutch, Spanish, French, German and Italian, with more on the way.
Yes, from Settings > Learning > Languages. On the free trial you have one language pair, so choosing another replaces it. On a plan you can keep 2 pairs (Standard) or up to 5 (Full Access and the Tutor Plan) and switch between them, and each pair keeps its own progress.
Six: Word Zoom, Sound Check, Snapshot, Word Build, Sound Spell and Article Ace. Each one asks the same words a different way - reading, listening, pictures, spelling and articles. See the full walkthrough.
Just a few minutes a day - Tungo is built around short, frequent sessions rather than long ones, and that is what makes it stick. All told there is about 40 hours of play here, so half an hour a day comes out at roughly three months to finish everything.
Each language has four levels for now, starting with First Steps, and 154 rounds between them. A level is a road of rounds on your Journey map. Every round is one topic - Greetings, Numbers, In the kitchen - of 8 to 14 words. Fill both bars, XP and words, to finish a round and move on. New words, and new games, open up as you go.
A word is learned once you get it right 3 times in a row, or at least twice with more than 65% of your answers for it right. It is mastered once it is learned and you have got it right at least once in every game you have unlocked that tracks words. Your Vocabulary page shows where each word is.
The games choose for you, from the language level you are on, mixing new words with ones you are still learning. That keeps practice short and makes sure nothing is forgotten.
Your day streak counts the days in a row you practise. Badges mark milestones, like 100 right answers or finishing a language level, and each level has its own to collect. You can see them all on your Journey page.
Yes. Tap the speaker next to a word to hear it. You can make it slower or faster in Settings > Learning.
Yes. A practice reminder in the app and a short weekly progress summary by email are on when you create your account. Change the time and days, or turn them off, in Settings > Reminders.
Standard is £1.99/month, Full Access is £3.99/month and the Tutor Plan is £14.99/month. All three are billed monthly and can be cancelled anytime. Standard includes 2 language pairs, and Full Access and the Tutor Plan up to 5. The free trial includes 1. See our full pricing.
You will be asked to choose a plan to keep playing. Your account and progress stay exactly as they were. You just will not be able to play again until you pick a plan.
Yes. Go to Settings > Plan and billing and choose Change plan to pick a different one.
Yes. Go to Settings > Plan and billing and choose Cancel or ask about billing. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
That depends on your plan: 1 language pair on the free trial, 2 on Standard and up to 5 on Full Access and the Tutor Plan. A language pair is the language you speak and the one you are learning.
Payments are handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
We look at refunds case by case. Send us a message with the email on your account and what happened, and we will look at your situation individually.
Check the email address you signed up with, then use forgotten password to set a new password. If you use two-factor authentication and cannot use your app, enter a backup code or ask for a code by email instead. After several wrong tries, logging in is paused for a short while.
Use the forgotten password link on the login page and we will email you a reset link.
Go to Settings > Email and enter the new address. We send a confirmation link to it, and the change is made once you click it.
In Settings, scan the QR code with an authenticator app and enter the 6-digit code it shows. Keep your backup codes somewhere safe: they let you in if you lose your phone.
Go to Settings > Notifications and choose, for each kind, whether you want it in the app, by email or not at all. Offers are only sent if you turn them on.

Go to Settings > Privacy and data > Delete my account. We delete your account and personal data 14 days after you ask, so you have time to change your mind. Payment records are kept, because we are required to keep them. You can download your data there first.
The Tutor Plan is £14.99/month and gives you everything in Full Access: up to 5 language pairs, all 6 games and all 6 languages. You can also invite up to 15 students by email. Each student joins free on the Student Plan, which has the same features as Standard with 2 language pairs, and you can see each student's progress on the Students page in your settings. The Student Plan is only available by invitation from a tutor. Paying for 15 Standard accounts would cost £29.85 a month, plus £3.99 for your own Full Access, so the Tutor Plan costs less than half as much.
On the Tutor Plan, go to Settings > Students and enter a student's email. They get an email with a link to join your class free on the Student Plan. You have 15 places, and an invite holds a place until you remove it.
The Students page shows each student's status, the language they are learning, their level and when they were last active.
Use the link in your tutor's invitation email. If you already use Tungo, you keep all your progress.
If a tutor removes a student, or stops the Tutor Plan, the student keeps full access for 7 more days and gets a notice. After that they can choose their own plan, and their progress is kept.
Check your device is not on silent and the volume is up. Tungo uses the voices built into your browser, so if a language has no voice on your device, add one in your device's language or speech settings, then try again in Chrome, Safari or Edge.
Refresh the page, make sure your browser is up to date, and turn off any ad blocker or extension for tungo.xyz. If it still happens, send us a message saying what you see.
Progress saves after every answer while you are online. Check you are logged in to the right account and on the right language pair (Settings > Learning > Languages), as each pair keeps its own progress.
Check your spam or junk folder and add information@tungo.xyz to your contacts. Make sure the address in Settings > Email is right, and that the emails you want are turned on in Settings > Notifications.
